
PT Aplikasi Karya Anak Bangsa doing business as GO-JEK is an Indonesian hyperlocal transport, ride hailing, logistics and payments startup founded in 2010. It is the first startup of Indonesian origin to be classified as a transport system company after closing a round of funding in August 2016. GO-JEK's fleet now exceeds 400,000 drivers and includes motorcycles, cars and trucks. It is the largest Unicorn company based in Jakarta, Indonesia. The company is valued at about $5 billion as of February, 2018. A survey revealed it as the most popular ride-hailing app in Indonesia.

GO-JEK's name is derived from ojek, a transport service that uses motorbikes.

History
- October 2010: GO-JEK started by Nadiem Makarim, Michaelangelo Moran and Kevin Aluwi, with a call centre and fleet of 20 riders.
- January 2015: Launches Android and iOS app with transportation, courier and shopping for Jakarta and satellite cities with a fleet of 800 riders.
- March 2015: Expands to Bali with 300 riders. Jakarta and satellite cities now served by 2,200 riders.
- April 2015: Launches GO-FOOD and expands to Bandung.
- June 2015: Expands to Surabaya.
- August 2015: Increases fleet to 30,000 riders and expands to Makassar.
- September 2015: Launches GO-MART, an on demand shopping assistant.
- October 2015: Raises an undisclosed amount of funding from Sequoia Capital and other investors and launches GO-MASSAGE, GO-GLAM and GO-CLEAN services.
- December 2015: All online transportation services banned by Minister of Transportation. Ban lifted a day later. GO-JEK Expands to Yogyakarta, Medan, Palembang, Semarang, Balikpapan and launches GO-TIX, an event ticket booking service.
- January 2016: Enables ride hailing via LINE.
- February 2016: Announces acquisition of C42 Engineering and CodeIgnition, two engineering startups based in India, establishes a product development centre in Bangalore, India. Fleet strength grows to 200,000 riders.
- May 2016: Expands to Malang, Solo and Samarinda. Announces collaboration with BlueBird, a major Indonesian taxi company.
- April 2016: Introduces cars to its fleet and launches GO-CAR, a car hailing service similar to Uber.
- June 2016: Expands to Manado.
- July 2016: Introduces a car maintenance service, GO-AUTO, providing mechanics on demand. Faces problems with its digital wallet, with some user accounts being hacked.
- August 2016: Officially becomes Indonesia's first online transportation system after obtaining a US$550 million investment.
- May 2017: GO-JEK India officially commences its operations.
- August 2017: GO-JEK acquires Loket.com, an online ticket booking and event management system company.
- December 2017: GO-JEK acquires three fintech firms; Kartuku, Midtrans, and Mapan, in order to expand its payments business.
In August 2016, Go-Jek received funding of more than US$550 million from KKR & Co. and Warburg Pincus LLC. Other companies invested in Go-Jek were Farallon Capital Management LLC and Capital Group Cos. In the same month, the application was downloaded more than 20 million times.

Controversy
GO-JEK was banned on December 18, 2015 by the Transport Ministry. But the ban was lifted at the will of the President of the Republic of Indonesia, Joko Widodo on the same day.
