The Daihatsu Ayla (Japanese: ??? ???, Daihatsu Aira) is a city car, designed by Daihatsu and manufactured by Astra Daihatsu in Indonesia. The Daihatsu Ayla is also sold by Toyota as the Toyota Agya (Japanese: ??? ???, Toyota Agia), and in the Philippines, Sri Lanka, and Brunei as the Toyota Wigo (Japanese: ??? ???, Toyota Uigo). The car is also rebadged, redesigned, and manufactured in Malaysia by Perodua as the Perodua Axia. The name "Agya" was taken from the Sanskrit word meaning "fast", while "Ayla" means "light".

History

The car was announced and showed at the 2012 Indonesia International Motor Show as Toyota and Daihatsu's answer to the Indonesia government's plan for the LCGC. Initially the car was available for advance booking after the show but it only lasted for few weeks because the manufacturers were waiting for the government to finalize regulation regarding the LCGC. The Agya and Ayla use the same 1.0 liter 1KR-DE three-cylinder engine in Indonesia.

The first Agya and Ayla were rolled off assembly line at Karawang plant on October 25, 2012, and entered mass production in September 2013.

After a year since it was announced, Agya and Ayla were officially launched and sold to general public on the second week of September 2013.

In July 2013, Toyota Motor Philippines (TMP) announced they will import the Agya in December to compete with the Mitsubishi Mirage. It would have a different name for the Philippine Market. In January 2014, TMP announced that the car will be called Wigo, and would use the same 1.0 liter 1KR-DE three-cylinder engine as the Aygo.

2017 update

The Agya and Ayla were updated on April 7, 2017. Both updated version use the same 1.0-litre 1KR-VE (for the Agya only) and 1.2-litre 3NR-VE four-cylinder engine as the Daihatsu's Sigra, while the 1.0-litre variant of the Ayla still uses the same engine as the previous version. This update includes new bumper designs, projector headlamp with LED lights on some variants, LED taillamp, dual airbags, 3-point seatbelts, steering switch controls, side impact beams, and improved interior quality.

The Ayla is available only in Indonesia in nine different models; seven of them are available with a choice of an automatic or 5 speed manual transmission, and three of them offered in 1.2L 3NR-VE engine. The nine models are:
